H2020 Excalibur project aims to enhance the knowledge on soil biodiversity dynamics and its synergistic effects with prebiotic and probiotic approaches in horticulture, using a multi-actor approach

  • Carry out trials in strawberry integrated and organic fields to assess the effects of fungal inoculum on the plant growth, production and health, as well as on the soil biodiversity;
  • Develop markers to detect and quantify fungal inoculum in soil to assess its persistence in the field;
  • Study the molecular mechanisms driving the interaction between strawberry plants, spider mites and entomopathogenic fungi under control conditions.

November 2016-December 2019: PhD student, UMR INRAE 1349 IGEPP, Le Rheu (France). Thesis manuscript

Study the interaction between oilseed rape (Brassica napus), the cabbage root fly (Delia radicum) and their associated microbial communities, in order to:

  1. Assess the effect of soil microbial diversity on plant chemistry and insect life history traits (doi: 10.1111/1744-7917.12478);
  2. Assess the effect of insect herbivory on root chemistry and both root and rhizosphere microbial communities (doi: 10.3389/fevo.2018.00091);
  3. Determine the effect of antibiotics on insect bacterial communities (doi: 10.1093/femsec/fiaa028);
  4. Evaluate vertical and horizontal bacterial transmission in D. radicum.
