Summer Visit to Sweden
By Egor Moshkin
As a part of the internship at project’s partner EkoBalans ESR-14 (Egor Moshkin) had a chance to share his findings on the pricing of bio-based fertilisers with Ekobalans’s executives and had productive discussions on how the results can be used in practice, which gave an invaluable contribution to understanding the producer’s perspective. In addition, Egor visited (currently in-construction) future production site for a new recycled fertiliser and learned about practical aspects of organising production of bio-based fertilisers.
Over the internship’s period Egor had a chance to visit Recolab in Helsingborg where Ekobalans built a nutrient recovery system on the existing municipal wastewater treatment plant. The visit allowed to understand the current challenges of nutrient reuse and recovery as well as highlighted the challenges associated with meeting expectations of all stakeholders involved in the process.
To wrap-up his visit to Sweden Egor joined Ekobalans at the farmer’s fair in Borgeby. At the fair Egor engaged in the conversations about nutrient recycling and challenges of producing the bio-based fertilisers as well as shared some of his research results along with overall aims and aspirations of the FertiCycle project.
