FertiCycle presented at stakeholder event in Denmark
University of Copenhagen, coordinator of FertiCycle, recently organized a joint EU project (FertiCycle, Nutri2Cycle and LEX4BIO) dissemination event for stakeholders in Denmark in collaboration with the agricultural organisation SEGES. The event included professionals and stakeholders from agro-industry, fertiliser companies, agricultural advisors, researchers, technology innovation centers, NGOs and administrators from public agencies.
The event was held on 1st July 2021 at the UCPH experimental farm in Taastrup, just outside Copenhagen, with more than 30 participants, and the program included both a field excursion, talks and discussion. The field excursion in the morning visited several sites, including field trials with bio-based fertilisers (LEX4BIO project, parallel trials in 5 locations in Europe), climate effects of catch crops and the long-term CRUCIAL field trial about recycling biobased fertilisers (sewage sludge, household compost, human urine and various livestock manures), focusing on soil carbon build-up, contaminants and potential risks. In the afternoon FertiCycle coordinator Lars Stoumann Jensen gave talks about “The new EU Fertilizer Regulation, which enters into force from 2022 - What is it and which impacts will it have on the fertilizer market and farmers uptake?” and “Activities in the FertiCycle, Nutri2Cycle and LEX4BIO EU-H2020 projects”. The participants asked lots of questions and engaged in lively and interesting discussions on the topics addressed, both during the field trial excursion and the subsequent session with talks.
