New Master Student at UCPH (PLEN)
Hilde Boe Andersson started as Master Student in Associate Prof. Mette Nicolaisen's group. Read about her project here
I am studying Environmental Science with the specialization chemistry, toxicology and health and I have a bachelor’s degree in biology. My interests in science span wide, but mainly lie within ecology, microbiology and chemistry.
I am now doing my thesis in collaboration with Mathilde, who is specialized in modelling, and with our combined skills, we are studying the effects of biofilm on plant drought resistance. Specifically we are investigating whether biofilm producing bacteria change the pore space of soils and improve the soil hydraulic properties, resulting in material that can hold more water and increase residents time of solutes in the rhizosphere. My focus of the project is examining the biofilm-producing bacteria.
Place of employment: University of Copenhagen, Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Microbial Ecology and Biotechnology.
