Andrea attained his BSc degree in Biology and his MSc degree in Cellular and Molecular biology at University of Tuscia in Viterbo (Italy). During his master's degree he developed a keen interest in plant's defense mechanisms working on his master's thesis project. Under this project he was trained in molecular analysis of wound-stress response in rice. In the final year of his master's degree, he also joined the Plant-microbe interactions group at Utrecht University (The Netherlands) in the frame of the Erasmus+ Traineeship program. During this internship he focused on the elucidation of MYB72 signaling pathway in Arabidopsis during iron deficiency response.
In February 2016 Andrea started his PhD at University of Copenhagen: he will focus on the role of phytohormones in the interaction between root fungal endophytes and tomato plants. This PhD project is part of the BestPass ITN funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
