Morten Egevang Jørgensen receives Sapere Aude Research Talent Award

Talent Award

DynaMo postdoc Morten Egevang Jørgensen has received a Sapere Aude Talent Award grant in addition to the 2-years postdoc grant he received from the Danish Council for Independent Research earlier this year.

In March 2016 it was announced that DynaMo postdoc Morten Egevang Jørgensen has received 1.5 million dkk to untertake a postdoc project at Würzburg University, Germany. Now he has been awarded a further DKK 100.000 as a Sapere Aude Talent grant.

Transport of nitrate

In November this year, Morten will take up a postdoc position at Würzburg University, where he will collaborate with the labs of Professor Reiner Hedrich and Professor Dietmar Geiger.

Morten's project has a multidisciplinary approach, combining advanced bioinformatics and molecular biology with the latest techniques in biophysics. The aim of his project is to investigate the physiological role of membrane transporter proteins in nitrate accumulation from the soil and nitrate distribution in the plant as well as nitrate signaling.

Thus, his project has the potential to provide vital new knowledge about accumulation, distribution and signaling of nitrate and thus might contribute to improve the yield of future crops.

Dare to be wise

Sapere Aude means `dare to be wise´. The purpose of the Sapere Aude Research Talent Award programme is to provide gifted young researchers with the best career conditions and to enable them to deliver stand-out research results at a high international level.

The recipients of the Sapere Aude Research Talent grant are specifically selected from the group of applicants who in 2016 have been awarded an individual postdoctoral grant by The Danish Council for Independent Research.
